“Certified Peer Educator Training Workshop”

The Virginia Tidewater Consortium is pleased to offer the “Certified Peer Educator Training Workshop” on Saturday, September 20, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center in Virginia Beach.
This is a great opportunity for any student to become officially certified as a peer educator through “The BACCHUS and GAMMA Peer Education Network.” (An official certificate and registration in the national network are available from BACCHUS and GAMMA after completing the training in order to designate oneself as a Certified Peer Educator).
The program is a comprehensive training designed to empower students with core training to educate, confront, listen to, and encourage their peers to make healthy lifestyle choices.
The Workshop will include the following topics:
- Caring and Helping Within Limits
- Listening Skills (Part 1)
- Listening Skills (Part 2)/Practice Role-Plays
- Responding and Referral Skills
- Confrontation Skills
- Presentation and Programming Skills
- Role Modeling and Ethics
- Taking Care of Ourselves: Stress Management
The Workshop includes a certificate and a workbook for each participant.
