Important Note: Dr. Aspaas requests that participants bring to the workshop an existing course syllabus that will be transformed into a service-learning course syllabus.
Facilitator: Helen Ruth Aspaas, PH.D., is Associate Professor of Geography at Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently serving a two-year assignment as VCU’s inaugural service-learning scholar.
Workshop Goal: The goal of the hands-on VTC Service-Learning Workshop for Faculty is to fully prepare willing faculty members at Consortium member institutions to instruct a service-learning course that meets national guidelines for best-practice. Each participant will design a course syllabus for the academic year 2008-2009.
